FORMER COLLEGIATE HEAD WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH LEAVES POSITION FOR NONPROFIT THAT SERVES AT-RISK YOUTH THROUGH BASKETBALL IN BOSTON

Boston, MA (April 29, 2019) - ​Shooting Touch is pleased to announce its recent hire of the former Colby College Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Brittany Gaetano, who will join the organization as the Boston Program Director. Within this role, Gaetano will be responsible for running all aspects of Shooting Touch’s domestic program, which is currently providing 175 girls ages 9-17 with opportunities to participate in supportive and female-friendly sport- for-development programming that provides health education, mentorship, empowerment, and academic support on- and off- the basketball court.

“When I discovered Shooting Touch, I was inspired by the positive impact it has had in changing lives and communities worldwide,” said Gaetano. “After meeting Lindsey and other team members, I immediately knew that this was where I needed to be. I am so grateful to be part of this amazing team and excited to be at a place where I can fully combine my passion for serving at-risk youth with my strong belief in the transformative power of sport."

Gaetano comes to Shooting Touch with twelve (12) years of collegiate coaching experience. Most recently, Gaetano worked as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Colby College in Waterville, ME. At Colby, she spent three years competing in the NESCAC, known as one of the top Division III basketball conferences in the country. Gaetano lead the team to the conference final four in her first season, followed by finishing two season just under .500. Prior to Colby, Gaetano was the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Drew University and an assistant coach at Amherst College after being a four-year starter at St. Lawrence University.

Gaetano combines her knowledge of coaching basketball with her Masters in Secondary Education and Teaching, along with her passion to empower at-risk youth, to the growing organization. Shooting Touch is extremely excited to be adding her to the team and to see how Gaetano’s skillset can continue to grow and enhance their domestic program in Boston.
