Program Description:
Shooting Touch Boston (STB) aims to provide structured guidance and educational enrichment to equip athletes with the knowledge, life skills, and tangible support network necessary to assist them with their future endeavors in life. Such engagement includes paid internships, career/higher-education information nights, financial scholarships for off-court interests, college visits (athletic and educational), and educational speaker series with prominent women of color from within the Boston area.
Program Goals:
Increased proficiency in employment/educational areas of interest for girls of color
Increased understanding of available opportunities for girls of color in Boston
Improved confidence and self-esteem for girls of color
Increase steps taken towards achieving upward mobility for girls of color
Program Outcomes:
Provided 2 high school girls with a 3-month, paid internship at STB
Provided two high school girls with financial-aid, via STB’s Leadership Track, to support higher-education opportunities
6 players invited to all-academic prospect camps
Assisted 10 AAU The Right Way girls in their pursuit for athletic scholarships and higher-education opportunities
