SHooTING TOUCH UNIVERSITY

Shooting Touch University (STU) is a comprised of a series of development basketball and education programs serving young female athletes in the Boston area. STU programs include Pop-Up Clinics, as well as partnerships with Chelsea Parks & Recreation and Ladies Night. Through these clinics and partnerships, the goal of Shooting Touch University is to:

  • Provide girls of color with equal opportunity to participate in developmental sport programming

  • Improve health and well-being of girls of color

  • Increase leadership skills, self-esteem, efficacy, and agency of girls of color

  • Build community togetherness and sisterhood

  • Distribute athletic gear to increase participation in sport activities

Thus far in 2023, Ladies Night has hosted 50+ girls per week, building basketball skills and sisterhood.

Available to all Boston-area girls age 8-19, Ladies Night is a safe and supportive basketball program for young athletes to become familiar with the game of basketball and participate in leadership activities, health enrichment, and mentorship opportunities. Offered over an 8-week period in the Spring of 2023, Ladies Night participants receive basketball training for all skill levels, free athletic gear, leadership education, and have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with peers and mentors at no cost to the athletes or their families.

Sessions are held every Friday night from 5:30pm - 7:30pm beginning March 17, 2023 through May 12, 2023. Court locations vary per session:

  • April 7, 2023: Massasoit Community College

  • April 14, 2023: Massasoit Community College

  • April 28, 2023: New Heights Charter School

  • May 5, 2023: Brockton High School

  • May 12, 2023: Massasoit Community College
